There's a few details we need to discuss before we get started. Please fill out the questions below as best you can. This will help me get as clear of a picture as possible of your website needs.

What to expect

I will respond to your inquiry within one business day with my answers to any questions you might have, my quote and a contract for your review and signature if you decide to move forward in utilizing my services. In most cases I can start designing the following business day after having received your signed contract.

After the contract is signed I generally recommend to my clients that they begin authoring the content for the pages of their site. This commonly takes longer than people anticipate. If you do not have a domain and/or host, it's at this time that I will help you get those setup.

I will provide one* design for your review. In most cases, two rounds of design changes are typical and have already been accounted for in your quote. Additional rounds of changes can be made but will increase the final cost at $40 per hour.

Once you've signed off on the design, I will begin programming the design into a functional and interactive web site. In most cases this takes no longer than 5 business days. It's during this time that I can start programming your content if it's available.

Once your content has been programmed, the site will be ready for your final round of changes before it is launched.

Before your site is launched it will be optimized for search engines and submitted to Google, Yahoo, DMOZ and MSN. Your site will also be cross-browser checked to ensure it's looking and behaving appropriately in the most recent version of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

*Additional design options are available for $200 per option.

Section 1 of 5 — Project Scope

Section 2 of 5 — Your Audience

1. Who will be using this site and will they be using it for work or leisure? Example: existing customers, potential customers, employees, job seekers, etc.
2. How large do you expect your audience to be? Example: 200 visitors a month, 7,000 visitors a month
3. Is your site skewed towards any particular demographic or psychographic profile? Example: Men aged 21-35, soccer moms, etc.

Section 3 of 5 — Design

1. Do you have an existing identity package or logo? If not, do you plan to have a logo designed or only use text?
2. Use a few adjectives to describe how the user should perceive the new site. Is this different than the current image perception? Examples: "corporate", "edgy", "traditional", "simple/one page", "clean/white space", "green", "warm", "elegant"
3. What is the primary "action" the user should take when coming to your site? Example: Make a purchase, search for information
4. Who are your competitors? What differentiates you from them? What are the strengths and weaknesses of their web sites?
5. Can you provide the web address of a few sites that you like/dislike along with the reasons why? (The web sites do not need to be related to your field of business)

Section 4 of 5 — Content, Social Networking and Search Engine Optimization

1. How do you envision the task of content creation being divided between you and Muse Juice Media in order to complete the project? Example: I will provide content but will need photos taken of my staff/products, or will need stock photography
2. What pages or content areas do you envision? Example: About us, blog, reviews, contact us, gallery
3. Will you need any content-specific technology? Example: An iPhone and/or mobile version of the site, WordPress blog, e-commerce store, a Twitter feed on home page, etc
4. How do you intend to keep the site updated? Who will be responsible for updating content?
   
   There are three common ways to update a web site:
   1) Content Management System (CMS): Best for multiple people updating the web site frequently. Requires installation when the site is built, cost varies greatly depending upon the size of your site. A CMS for most small sites is about $900.
   2) Adobe's Contribute: Best for one or two people updating the site frequently. Requires purchase of Contribute license for $199, one license per computer.
   3) Have Muse Juice Media perform updates for you: Best for those who don't update their content frequently or aren't interested in updating their own content. $40 per hour.
5. Do you have an existing social networking identity established on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, OpenTable, Foursquare, Etsy, eBay, etc? Will you need any of those created for you? Who will maintain those accounts?
6. Please provide a list of up to 10 specific keywords/phrases and locations that users should enter to find your web site. (Specific terms and phrases render better search results than broad general terms. Example: "east sacramento thai restaurant" will serve you better than just "restaurant" or "northern california restaurant")
